Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, generating strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services handled over five hundred calls for help across the state, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
